Bellman's Closet - John Altenhofen
The Great Western Custodian of Stuff -The French trappers who wandered the West had a problem: what to do with their stuff as they moved seasonally from place to place along the mountains and rivers. They created secure places. Each of these was called a cache. John also had, similar to the French trappers, a challenge: John has been skiing and enjoying the Colorado mountains for many years and has had many visitors that were traveling through. They stayed in Colorado hotels from Denver to Vail. Since John and many of these visitors came multiple times a year, there was always a problem in regard to their stuff. The logistics of carting around luggage and skis, ski gear, fishing gear, golf clubs and snowboards often became a nightmare. After having stuff delayed or lost on the airline, after paying soaring fees for oversize and extra luggage, after storing his friends stuff in his guest room and garage, John had an amazing idea.
Why not create a place where people could store their stuff, and create a service to handle all the logistics of having the right stuff at the right place at the right time. So John built upon the idea of a cache by adding a service to manage the logistics of stuff. That's how it started. Now it is a flourishing business with a fast-growing clientele of vacationers, and business men and women. That's how John built an amazing idea into The Great Western Custodian of Stuff.
